The Black Krim Tomato seeds are an indeterminate heirloom variety originating from the Black Sea region of Russia. This robust tomato produces medium-sized fruits weighing approximately 1/2 to 1 pound each. The fruits feature a distinctive deep brown shoulder that darkens further with greater sun exposure, contrasting with smoky red coloring and reddish-green flesh. The Black Krim Tomato’s flavor profile is characterized by a rich, salty taste, making it suitable for fresh eating, slicing on sandwiches, or cooking into sauces like Khrenovina.

The variety reliably ripens within 70 to 80 days from seed planting. The plant requires trellis support and regular pruning to manage growth, typical of indeterminate growth type. The seeds should be planted at a depth of 0.25 inches, with a spacing of 24 inches between plants and 36 to 48 inches between rows to ensure proper development. Germination occurs within 7 to 14 days under soil temperatures of 75°F to 95°F, in soil with a pH of 6.0 to 6.5. Full sun exposure is necessary for optimal growth, and the plant is not frost hardy.

The Black Krim Tomato seeds are ideal for gardeners with a moderate budget seeking to cultivate heirloom tomatoes that add unique color and flavor to their harvest.

How do I care for Black Krim tomato plants to ensure a healthy harvest?

Plant Black Krim Tomato seeds at a depth of about 0.25 inches, spacing the seeds 24 inches apart in rows that are 36 to 48 inches apart. Sow in warm soil with temperatures between 75°F and 95°F, and ensure full sun exposure for best germination.

Bold and Beautiful

"My whole house fell in love with these last year. They're a bold and balanced flavor of sweet and acidic. The seeds germinated fairly quickly for a Black Krim (12 Days with heat mat) - I read that these take a little longer than most."

Andrea L. (5/5)

very slow to germinate

"planted 2x only to have them all come up, a lot of these heirloom varieties i'm learning are slow germinators, like a couple weeks. So have patience."

Everything has arrived the way that it was supposed to

"I have received my order fast and quick from seedsnow. Everything was neatly, correctly, packaged, friendly, and personal. I love tomatoes and can eat tomatoes in droves. Whether a tomatoe soup, sauce of any kind, juice, or raw. One of favorite tomatoes is black krim; for the taste reminding me of a hybrid between a tomatoe and a dark plum. I have ordered and planted the seeds and hope to see the fruits of my labor soon. I do not have the luxury of a large space to plant living in the city. However, this variety should do well along with my other tomatoe that I like and have ordered too(being a tomato lover I probably have tried many varieties of tomatoes. I like the yellow tomatoes too and will find out if they like containers or can be grown in them too). I have also planted a pepper. Looking to order a hot pepper container variety from seedsnow sometime too."

Michael T. (5/5)

Delicious Tomatoes

"I ordered the same variety of tomato last year and they were delicious, hearty plants, and easy to grow. So...I ordered more seeds this year and look forward to much of the same."

Crystal S. (5/5)

Seeds came quickly

"but it's not time to plant yet, so I can't let you know the rate of germination or anything else of any importance."

Safe Seed Pledge

OUR PLEDGE TO YOU

Agriculture and seeds provide the basis upon which our lives depend. We must protect this foundation as a safe and genetically stable source for future generations.

For the benefit of all farmers, gardeners and consumers who want an alternative. We pledge to you that we do not knowingly buy or sell genetically engineered seeds or plants.  The mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive methods and between genera, families or kingdoms, poses great biological risks as well as economic, political, and cultural threats.

We wish to support agricultural progress that leads to healthier soils, genetically diverse agricultural ecosystems and ultimately healthy people and communities.

We do not buy - OR - grow any seed from large corporations that make Genetically Engineered seeds.  We don't touch that stuff and we never will.

The seeds we offer aren't like varieties you'd typically find at a garden center.

Every variety we offer is 100% OP (open-pollinated).  Open-pollination means that you can safely save the seed after harvest and preserve a collection of heirloom seed for many generations to come.

To make it perfectly clear ... Our seeds do not contain any exogenously inserted embryogenesis deactivator genes caused by human intervention.
